Renault Ondelios

Renault Ondelios is a concept car especially designed for long distance travel and will be displayed at 2008 Paris Motor Show. This style of the car is enthused partly by an aircraft. Its slippery and low drag body and a canopy-style will surely catch your attention. You cannot ignore its boomerang shaped tail lights which add to the style and overall look of Renault Ondelios. The butterfly-type side doors are extremely amazing giving it a shape of aircraft. This car can accommodate 6 people and individual seats are arranged in 3 rows of paired seats. Passengers will be having their own Samsung interactive portable multimedia devices for sharing data or playing multiplayer games. So, overall Renault is a luxurious car for those who can afford it.

Designer, Stylist and DJ: Kesh

Kesh is an English fashion designer, magazine editor, stylist and DJ based in the East End of London and New York. Hmmm...looks like this brit does it all.

Kesh's father is of Malaysian descent and her mother is of Trinidadian heritage. She attended Southgate College but is believed to have been kicked out for fighting. Soon after, she formed the DJ collective The Coconut Twins with Zezi Ifore. The two met on the set of an Ears MC video shoot. Kesh is close friends with artist M.I.A. and has appeared on stage with her as a dancer during her KALA Back to P.O.W.A. Tour in 2007. Kesh has also designed for other artists. She showcased some of her work as part of the MAN London Fashion Week for Top Man, and modeled for designer Katherine Hamnett and Basso and Brooke at London Fashion Week and for Nike in Milan.

Soon after She launched her eponymous label Keshwear - a fusion of 1980s clubwear and modern street style. Her designs have been worn by musicians including M.I.A., Mariah Carey, Lupe Fiasco, Dizzee Rascal, Big Daddy Kane, A-Trak, Jammer, Kanye West and T.I.

Kesh made her New York Fashion Week debut in September 2008. The show was held at Anonymous Gallery in SoHo and was sponsored by The Fader magazine.

Astronomers spot a 'bizarre' strobe light star(OTHER LIFE PERHAPS?)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

A "most bizarre" strobe light star reported by European astronomers likely belongs to a long-sought family of compact "neutron" stars.

It initially showed up as a gamma-ray burst, leading astronomers to think it was the death of a star in the far-off universe. But after that first gamma-ray pulse, there was a three-day period of activity during which this odd celestial object emitted 40 visible-light flashes before disappearing again. Eleven days later, there was a brief near-infrared flaring episode recorded by ESO's Very Large Telescope. Then the weird object went visibly "silent" again.

"We are dealing with an object that has been hibernating for decades before entering a brief period of activity," said Alberto J. Castro-Tirado, lead author of a paper in this week's issue of Nature.

Astronomers now think this celestial enigma is a 'magnetar' located in our own Milky Way galaxy, about 15,000 light-years away in the area around the constellation of Vulpecula, the Fox. Magnetars are a type of young neutron stars. They boast a magnetic field that's a billion billion times stronger than Earth's.

To put that in perspective for those of us with the financial crisis willies: “A magnetar would wipe the information from all credit cards on Earth from a distance halfway to the Moon,” explains Antonio de Ugarte Postigo, the study's co-author.

Because magnetars can be celestially silent for decades at a time, they're hard to pin unless we're looking at the right place at the right time. Postigo says there's likely a large population of them in the Milky Way even though we've only identified about 12.

The magnetar, known as SWIFT J195509+261406, is a candidate for what scientists have been looking for: A magnetar moving towards a pleasant retirement as its magnetic fields decay.

By Dan Vergano and Jess Zielinski
Photo: The twisting of magnetic field lines in magnetars give rise to 'starquakes', which will eventually lead to an intense soft gamma-ray burst. In the case of the SWIFT source, the optical flares that reached the Earth were probably due to ions ripped out from the surface of the magnetar and gyrating around the field lines. When will the madness end???

JPMorgan Chase buys WaMu assets after FDIC seizure

NEW YORK (AP) — JPMorgan Chase & Co. Inc. came to the rescue of ailing Washington Mutual Inc. Thursday, buying the ailing thrift's banking assets after WaMu was seized by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. This is the second time in six months that JPMorgan Chase has taken over a major financial institution crippled by bad bets in the mortgage market.

The deal will cost JPMorgan Chase $1.9 billion, and the bank said in a statement it planned to write down WaMu's loan portfolio by approximately $31 billion. JPMorgan Chase, which acquired Bear Stearns Cos. last March, also said it would sell $8 billion in common stock to raise its capital position.

The FDIC, which insures bank deposits, said it would not have to dip into the insurance fund as a result of the seizure. There had been concerns that the fund, which took a big hit after the seizure of IndyMac Bank, could be depleted by a WaMu seizure.

The Seattle-based WaMu has roughly $310 billion in assets and was searching for a lifeline after piling up billions of dollars in losses due to failed mortgages. WaMu has seen its stock price plummet by 87 percent this year, and it suffered a ratings downgrade by Standard & Poor's earlier this week that put it in danger of collapse.

Did we really land?

This is prolly some of the best computer generated work i ever seen.

The New Myspace Music

The new MySpace Music launches tonight for everyone. But like Hulu, another joint venture backed by News Corp. (MySpace’s parent company), it’ll only be for U.S. users. International users will see the new design and functionality, but the new content won’t be there. Hulu is now a year old and most video content is still only watchable in the U.S.

MySpace already has tens of millions of non-U.S. users, none of which will be able to listen to the deep catalog of new music being added to the site from all the major labels. They won’t be able to access, create or share the new playlists. And if U.S. users add music to their profiles, people outside the U.S. won’t be able to listen to it (unless its part of the existing and much smaller catalog of music available today).

MySpace isn’t doing this just to thumb their nose at the rest of the world (and neither is Hulu). Complex licensing deals in each country have to be negotiated before they’ll have the right to play music to users in those countries. “These international deals are extremely complicated,” said MySpace, noting that they had a ten person deal team just to lock down U.S. rights. MySpace also says they are negotiating international licensing deals now and will have music available on a country-by-country basis “soon.”

The Wattson

Wattson by DIY Kyoto

Wattson by DIY Kyoto

What does Wattson do? To quote the Sunday Times:
" The techno-boxes festooned about most living rooms mean electricity is being consumed faster than a Russian gas baron can neck caviar. The Wattson enbles you to see exactly how much you are using in real time and can help cut down those bills. Once a monitoring sensor has been (easily) clamped onto the cable leading from your home's meter, the 7in wide Wattson box shows total electricity consumption in either watts or £'s. It's lights change from blue to red to show how decadent your power usage is.
Cheaper meters abound , but few are as stylish or fun."

With both numbers and colours, Wattson by DIYKyoyo shows you how much electricity your home is using at any given moment.
Wattson can also store up to 4 weeks of energy-use history which can be downloaded to your computer and viewed using software soon to be available from our website.
How does it work?
Information from a transmitter attached to your electricity meter or fuse box is beamed directly to your wattson which instantly displays your current usage.
In fact, for such an ingenious device, wattson is really easy to install and even easier to use and the instructions are completely free of techno-babble.

New Released Music Review: Doll Domination

Pussycat Dolls New Album Released 9/23

Doll Domination Album Sampler - The Pussycat Dolls

The album was cool. not bad but it could have been better. The production was pretty nice wit it and of course the usual suspects delivered.(Timbaland, Polow...etc) Other then that it was just ok. Nicole again was too much in the spotlight and not enough of the other 4 members(even tho only two of the 5 can actually sing!)...i mean there is one other chick in the group who can sing circles around nicole but we already know who that is right? (haha) anyways i guess this album would get a 2 of 5 stars in my book.

Movie to watch this weekend

Kanye's New Show on Comedy Central

A half-hour pilot has been shot for the project, tentatively titled "Alligator Boots." It's from Jackhole Prods., the production company founded by Jimmy Kimmel, Daniel Kellison and Adam Carolla that also was behind Comedy Central's puppet-centric "Crank Yankers."

The project, which is under consideration for 2009, would feature music produced and performed by West and fellow rapper Rhymefest, both of whom are serving as executive producers on the pilot alongside Kellison. West also hosts the pilot; the idea is to have a different celebrity guest host for every episode, similar to the setup on the original "Muppet Show."

Billionaires of 2008

Pity the poor billionaire.

There are 489 billionaires in the United States, but only 400 are rich enough to make Forbes magazine's new list of the 400 wealthiest people in America.

The price of admission is $1.3 billion and the 89 who didn't make the cut "just aren't rich enough," said Matthew Miller, editor of the list released yesterday.

The 400 - whose cumulative wealth stands at $1.57 trillion - include 31 new members and eight back on the list after falling off last year. Thirty-three were knocked off the list and six died.

Debuting in the top 10 is Mayor Bloomberg, whose $20 billion fortune placed him eighth - up from 65th last year when his net worth was $11.5 billion. One new member is Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg who, at the tender age of 24, is worth a paltry $1.5 billion, ranking him only 321st on the list.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates, No. 1 last year, remains the richest man in the United States, with a net worth of $57 billion.
